About Travis Apgar

Travis Apgar is a nationally recognized higher education leader, educator, writer, and consultant dedicated to helping organizations build stronger cultures, develop effective leaders, and create environments where people thrive. As Vice President for Student Affairs at Case Western Reserve University, he leads institution-wide initiatives focused on student success, well-being, belonging, and healthy community development. Travis holds advanced degrees in psychology and education administration and brings more than two decades of experience advancing evidence-informed approaches to leadership and organizational culture.

An engaging speaker and thought leader, Travis has presented on hundreds of campuses and at national conferences, connecting with thousands of students, professionals, educators, administrators, coaches, and organizational leaders. His work explores the critical role culture plays in shaping experiences—how traditions emerge, how norms influence behavior, and how leaders can intentionally create communities built on trust, accountability, and connection.

A leading voice in culture change and hazing prevention, Travis serves on the Board of Directors for the Hazing Prevention Network. He has contributed to national resources including the National Collegiate Athletic Association handbook Building New Traditions: Hazing Prevention in Athletics, Hank Nuwer’s book Hazing: Destroying Young Lives, and the Hazing Prevention Week Resource Guide. His expertise has been featured through appearances on NewsNation, PBS NewsHour, HuffPost Live, and the documentary Haze.

More recently, Travis has focused on the evolving relationship between technology, human connection, and well-being—examining how artificial intelligence, social media, and digital environments influence identity, resilience, relationships, and belonging. He helps organizations thoughtfully navigate change by pairing innovation with intentional leadership, strong community practices, and systems that support people in both physical and digital spaces.

Across all of his work, Travis shares a consistent message: thriving communities do not happen by accident. They are built through intentional leadership, meaningful connections, and a commitment to creating cultures where people feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.
